thesisdefense/dissertationdefense都可以两个词的区别仅限于字典而已，大部分英美的学校都把硕士论文也叫做dissertation的在英国本科叫thesis，硕士和博士都叫dissertation。在美国好像硕士多叫thesis。 
Proposal 更正式点opening speech；opening report；Thesis Proposal 也都可以但多数都用Proposal 如博士论文开题 Doctoral Dissertation Proposal
